WAVINCITY x AK IN KK - < 50/50 >

Two field recording projects, two distinct ecosystems: the bustling WAVINCITY, emblematic of urban life, and the tranquil AK IN KK, representative of the serenity of nature. The city and nature often seem to be in perpetual opposition, but is it possible to discover a harmonious balance between the two? Or is this balance only a wistful figment of our imagination?

Echoes of Urban Memory - A Sonic Installation

Sound is a ubiquitous presence in our lives, creating unique soundscapes through unintended interactions between people. “Echoes of Urban Memory” is an installation experience that seeks to delve into the profound connection between soundscapes and memories. Through a process of deconstruction and reassembly, the installation aims to unite personal memories and explore how soundscapes serve as a medium for connecting collective memories.

The sound materials used in this installation were all provided by WAVINCITY – Hong Kong Urban Soundscape Recording Project, established in 2021 by Peter Wong Tsz Kin, a recent graduate of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts’ Sound Design program. After two years of traversing the streets of Hong Kong and capturing the diverse sounds of the city through field recordings, these sounds have been artfully arranged by a team of creatives to form a one-of-a-kind journey that probes the intricate relationship between sound, memory, and identity.
